For
the past seven years, a replacement which was redesigned for the
Volkswagen’s New Beetle performance car has been rumoured but the spies
in the industry had no idea when it would come. Suddenly, it is here or
rather it will soon be here. Volkswagen states that by fall 2011, the
New Beetle will be in the showrooms in the United States, right after a
preview which is to be held at the New York Auto Show in April 2011. A
more convenient and larger interior, and an up to date retro styling on
dimensions that are larger are a few of the highlights. The car is to be
launched in a 2-door hatchback sedan mainstay selling form. Until 2012
when the redesigned model for the year 2013 could arrive, the cloth
convertible will be on furlough likely.
Similar to the car that it is replacing, the 2012 Volswagen Beetle will be exclusively built at the compnay’s Mexico Complex, Puebla, which is the sole plant in the company’s world wide system that makes the wagon and compact sedan, Jetta. This is due to the fact that the new Beetle has shared a many underskin components and the basic front wheel drive platform with the previous generation of Jettas and it won’t be altered by the redesign. The larger simensions of the new Beetle could account for this. While most are larger, the new model is ½ inch shorter than the one it is replacing.
The reduction in height is brought about by a roofline that is flatter and which significantly alter the visual look of the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle. The re-profiled “greenhouse” which is a part of the 2005 Ragster Concept, combines with the larger exterior package for better headroom in the rear seat, which is a criticism of the present top design of the dome. The shoulder and leg room in the in the rear should be larger as well. There is ditto cargo space in the hatchback sedan especially.
Although in a modified form, the well known, round headlamps, snout, high waistline and bulged fenders are all still on the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle and will put an end to any confusion with another car. The same goes for the German bulky top of the convertible. The overall effect will create a car that is less chic and more serious and which will result in the expansion of the Bug market as outlined in the goals of VW. The improved styling has added structuring and classic feature lines which will aid in breaking up the plain surfacing and unadorned feature of the present model. A window in the rear as well as a windshield that is more upright will follow the flatter roof.
